Time Out - Top Ten Cabaret Artists 2011
Intelligent and unforgettable comedy. ****
The List
Brilliant character comedy with sparkling original songs from Time Out’s Top 10 cabaret act. The Spirit of the Fringe and ThreeWeeks Editors’ Award winner returns with her third solo show, introducing four desperate divas from around the globe including washed-up lounge singer Bernie St Clair, troubled child star Baby Doll and tortured French chanteuse, La Poule Plombée.
The fantastic character creations of Sarah-Louise Young have delighted audiences in Edinburgh, London, Australia and most recently, New York. At this year's Fringe, she can also be seen in Fascinating Aida at Gilded Balloon.
‘This is a show has a lot to recommend it : the range and depth of the characters Young has developed, her obvious talent as a cabaret vocalist, the musical and lyrical content and the thought that has been put into costumes, lighting and sound. An amusing and entertaining hour.’
All Festival Highlights shows are participating in the 241 promotion today and tomorrow where you can get two tickets for the price of one. The perfect excuse to check out twice as many shows!
The only exception to this is Lockerbie: Unfinished Business, as it is only doing one performance, today at 4pm at St John’s Church on Princes Street. Tickets are still available and the show will be followed by a panel discussion with guests including Jim Swire and Robert Black.
