Vernon likes to watch people, keeping his distance and keeping his life and home in perfect order. When the plight of a young women forces him into heroic action, an unexpected and affecting bond is formed between them. This powerful piece of new writing provides a darkly funny and compelling insight into the strange bond two extraordinary people form when their ordinary lives are interrupted. The cast is Rupert Holliday Evans (Vernon) and Lucinda Millward (Emma), whose recent work includes Sensitive Skin with Joanna Lumley for the BBC and, on stage, I Witness (Finborough). Holliday Evans is a familiar face from his prolific television work, including regular appearances on The Bill, Family Affairs and Powers. His work on stage includes the title role in Don Juan (ETT), plus Paul and Life after Life (National Theatre, London). Touch marks the playwriting debut of award-winning TV producer Bill Dare. He has worked on highly acclaimed TV and radio projects over three decades, from Spitting Image and The Mary Whitehouse Experience to Dead Ringers - receiving the Sony Gold Award for the latter. Aside from working with some of the biggest names in British comedy, including David Baddiel, Meera Syal and Paul Merton, Dare has written a novel, Natural Selection. Owen Lewis' Edinburgh credits include Swimming In The Shallows, The Typographer's Dream and Scott Capurro’s Loaded (all at Pleasance). His extensive work on new writing in London includes Got To Be Happy (Bush) and the West End hit comedy, Pete and Dud: Come Again, which has toured extensively this year. He also directs Stewart Lee’s Johnson and Boswell: Late but Live at The Traverse as part of the festival this year. 'Neatly written and deftly performed.' 'The play's emotional texture is palpable.'
